What is Performance Qualification for Cold Rooms?
A Performance Qualification (PQ) study is a series of test done in a temperature-controlled storage area to determine operational fitness of installed infrastructure in loaded condition. These tests are typically done post installation of all systems to sign off installation and release for routine operations
For 3PL players periodic tests help establish infrastructure capability & operational fitness status to handle critical customer loads. This study also includes recommendations for correcting deviations, improving temperature compliance and optimizing overall operations
A temperature mapping test done as part of PQ establishes the temperature distribution areas within the zone being mapped and identifies hot and cold spots in routine operating conditions
Performance Qualification is necessary for any designated storage area where sensitive products are expected to be stored and handled at controlled temperatures, such as freezer rooms, chiller rooms and air-conditioned storage areas (15-25deg C)
